A grand one-way walk that links Farnley Tyas with its famous neighbour down in the valley, Holmfirth.

The route climbs gently out of the village to the tops, reaching around 280 metres with the views wide open in every direction. From there it is downhill nearly all the way, dropping steadily through fields and along old tracks into the Holme Valley, losing more than 200 metres of height as you go.

It is just under four miles in all, with around 120 metres of climbing early on and a long, easy descent to finish. Allow somewhere around an hour and three quarters at a steady pace.

Being a one-way route, it pairs nicely with a bus back up the hill, or a friend with a car at the far end. Stout boots are a good idea, as the field paths and valley tracks can get muddy after rain.
